The Heart Behind My Work

I am a retired registered nurse with more than 30 years of healthcare experience, as well as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caregiver, storyteller, and lifelong maker. Those roles have shaped how I think about children, families, confidence, creativity, and the importance of everyday moments.

I believe children grow in their own wonderful ways—through curiosity, movement, imagination, and confidence. My work brings together storytelling, practical caregiving experience, playful movement, and thoughtful design to help families celebrate that growth.

As a maker and myth-builder, I create stories, activities, and products that invite children to move, explore, and proudly say, “I CAN!” Whether a child is hopping like a frog, walking like a crab, discovering a new rhythm, or simply trying something unfamiliar, each experience can become a small heroic moment in that child’s story.

Malika Bourne Legacy is built on one simple truth:

Making do is making magic in the eyes of children.

Everything I create begins with that spirit—helping children feel capable, brave, imaginative, and joyful while giving families meaningful ways to share those moments together.
